SEO Case Study [Does Humanized Content Rank Better?]

Situation

Many people believe that "humanizing" AI-generated content is the key to ranking well on Google. But is that really true? To find out, the creator ran an experiment to test if humanized content ranks better than AI-written content.

Task

The goal was simple:
👉 Check if top-ranking articles on Google are mostly human-written or AI-generated.
If most top results are humanized, then humanization might be important. If not, maybe it’s less critical.

Action

  • Chose 5 random keywords like:

    • How to make money with ChatGPT

    • How to avoid AI detection

    • Typing jobs from home

    • How to get copywriting clients

    • Buyer intent keywords

  • Looked at the top 3 search results for each keyword.

  • Tested each article with multiple AI detectors:

    • ZeroGPT

    • Originality AI

    • GPTZero 3.0

  • Carefully recorded the AI scores for every result.

  • Compared Reddit posts, corporate blogs, AI-generated articles, and even content written with SurferSEO (an AI tool).

Result

  • The results were mixed:

    • Some high-ranking articles were 100% human.

    • Others showed 30% to 90% AI-generated content.

    • Even Reddit, which ranked high, sometimes had partially AI-written posts.

  • Overall:

    • AI content CAN rank well even if it’s not heavily humanized.

    • Having a strong brand voice might help, but "humanization" isn't always necessary.

  • The experiment suggests:
    👉 Google doesn’t seem to punish AI content as long as it's helpful and well-structured

Situation
